COCKPIT AND CENTER CONSOLE

For safety and comfort reasons, the interior is one of the most important elements in vehicle design. It has exacting requirements for design elements such as colors or sensitive surfaces and in electronics for the navigation system and infotainment. The cockpit as well as the center console play a major role in the car maker’s signature, making the end quality of these products absolutely essential.

Since 2016, HBPO has been supplying module solutions for vehicle interiors in the form of center consoles and since 2019, cockpit modules. The development, project and manufacturing experience we have gained with front-end modules (FEM) gave us a good foundation for work on interior products.

We have now further developed our expertise to meet the additional expectations demanded with the assembly and delivery of interior parts. New, and enhanced assembly, handling, and packaging methods, to ensure high quality standards are maintained throughout the process.

Center console: Requirements and function

It’s not enough for a car to be safe and good to drive – we want to feel at home in it as well. For this reason, the interior is one of the most important elements in vehicle design. Here, other requirements are made based on the interplay between textures, shapes and colors.

The center console is located between the two front seats and contains various comfort and control elements. Depending on the model, it can range from a relatively simple storage compartment, to a complex assembly which can include an armrest, ambient lighting, USB connections and keyless entry antenna.

Cockpit: dexterity and high quality

Depending on the specific model, up to 150 different individual components are installed in a cockpit module. Alongside the individual design elements such as colour, this includes sensitive surfaces and electronics for the radio and navigation system in particular. For this reason, a great deal of care is required during assembly with a view to component handling and installation – coupled with a high degree of sensitivity.
As a module specialist, we have decades of experience in the integration of a wide range of different components. Here, we can offer the same depths of services as in the front-end module business – from development through design and assembly to logistics.

Since both the centre console and the cockpit are assembled and delivered by HBPO to order, our plants are located near our customers, guaranteeing precise just-in-sequence deliveries.
